My email inbox today, flooded with the usual Friday afternoon weekend-oriented messages, reminded me again of one of the best tools out there for getting discounts, AAA. The American Automobile Association. Over the years, I have saved a great deal of money on a lot of different purchases, from hotel rooms and train tickets, to clothes and food. If you aren’t a AAA member, consider it because if even you don’t have a car, the discounts can easily be worth more than the membership dues. Let’s examine a few current offers and the price of membership.
Currently, AAA is a running a promo with Marriott Hotels that, depending on how long you stay, can take a big dent out of the membership cost in terms of money saved. Right now, you can save 10-20% off hotels at select locations.
Save up to 35% off on generic prescription drug purchases. Who knew, seriously?
Among many other retailers, save 10% off at Payless.
AAA membership comes in multiple tiers. Depending on how many drivers you have in your household, and how remote your driving habits take you, it might be worth it to get the Premium membership options. But, for Basic members, the first year is only $52. It wouldn’t take a lot of discounts off your purchases to easily make up for that. You can easily beat that in potential savings on things you buy every day. And, of course if you are stuck with a flat tire, they will come bail you out for that price, too.
